Getting organised for February
How did January go? Did it disappear as quickly for you as it did for us?
Did all your good intentions go to pot? Have you said “I’ll do it next month” instead?
Well let’s get you started.
Planning your Month Ahead
First of all, do your monthly brain dump.
Write down everything you can think of you need to do. Those phone calls, emails, blog posts, appointments, forms to fill in, etc.
Then write down everything you would like to do if you have time. Meeting a friend for coffee, reading a magazine or book, watching a movie – anything you want to do but the world won’t stop spinning if you don’t.
Perhaps you want to organise your paperwork – pop over to our top tips on paperwork to help you get going.
Then get your monthly planning sheet.
From your brain dump add a few items from your “need to do” list to each week. Look when things are due and make sure you give yourself a week or two before the due date, life often provides us with a plot twist so don’t leave it to the last minute.
Then add in a few items as rewards from your “want to do” list. Reward yourself for doing those tasks. You’re worth it!
Then get your weekly planning list.
Write down the appointments for the week ahead. What do you need to do to be ready for them? Do you know where the venue is if it’s a new appointment?
Write down the items from your monthly planning sheet for that week.
Write down the emails you need to send and the phone calls you need to make.
Write down the one thing you will do for yourself that week from the rewards on your monthly planning sheet.
Do you need to get a prescription? Write it down.
What is the one job you keep putting off (your frog) that you will do this week and how will you reward yourself? Or perhaps just doing it will be reward enough.
Maybe you want to organise your medications? Then pop over to our Medication downloads to get some ideas on how to get started.
Maybe you want to create a One Page Profile for your child, then pop over to our top tips on how to create one.
Coming next month:
Next month we will be looking at meetings, how to prepare for them and get through the ones you are not looking forward to.
We will also be looking at setting goals, how to think of goals for you and your children/young people, how to work out where to start and how to move it forward.
You really won’t want to miss these posts so sign up to ensure they arrive in your inbox.
